Oluwunmi Funbi-Olufeko is the Creative Director of the fashion label, Design For Love (DFL). She is a graduate of Biochemistry and an alumna of Lagos Business School and London College of Fashion, with a membership the distinguished WIMBIZ organization. She set up her fashion label 13 years ago, pioneering the now famous Ankara bag trend. She is a stern believer in possibilities against all odds.
What problem does your company solve?
Creating trendy Ankara fashion suitable for work, play or party.
What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture?
Initially boredom, which I overcame by selling Ankara fabrics and then the desire to see more people being able to incorporate Ankara into their everyday wardrobe.
What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Resilience, discipline and being ready to get your hands “dirty.”
How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?
I hardly ever give up, I love a good challenge and so always find away around making it work.
How many hours do you work a day on the average?
Ten hours, but really an entrepreneur never closes.
What motivates you?
The unwillingness to fail.
How do you generate new ideas?
A lot of reading, research and travel.
What is your greatest challenge, and how do you manage it?
Scaling up and managing a large team. It is still a work in progress for me.
What are your ideals?
Integrity is key for me.
How do you define success?
Success is knowing that lives were changed in the course of living my dreams.
What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Puttting God first.
Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from?
Initial capital was from family, then plowing back funds from business to grow the business.

Winners don’t quit, quitters don’t win
What is your favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
Knowing that my work makes someone happy.
